Ethical Living – Dedication

June 21, 2006

This blog is dedicated to the idea that the highest form of endeavor is the advancement of the human spirit.  Moving toward self-improvement, we move our larger society toward improvement.  Eliciting the best from others elicits the best from ourselves.  Building an ethical culture, one that respects every person for his or her unique gifts and perspectives, is the evolutionary next step for humans.

For many people this pursuit involves only inner work: meditation, study, contemplation.  For us at “ethical living,” it also involves outer work: such as the learning of new skills that enable one to build better relationships, for what is society but a web of relationships?   And what is culture but the values and practices that support those relationships?

We are not anti-traditionalists; we don’t turn toward the old religions and push against them.  We just turn forward and seek to move ahead, both individually and together, through ethical living.

We believe that it is important to work towards a more heavenly life here and now.  We replace the idea of a Supreme Being, with the goal of a supreme Way of being.  We are progressives, in the sense that we believe progress is possible and that it is good.  We are democratic: everyone has a piece of the bigger picture and a right to reveal it.  We are experiential, relying on the evidence of our senses, minds, and intuition to discern truths.  We are goal oriented: our vision is an ethical culture created through ethical living.

On this site you will find information and discussions on:

Building better relationships in your life

Eliciting the best from everyone you touch

Handling the inevitable conflicts that arise daily

Focusing on the goal of a more ethical society

Starting a local discussion group to share with others

Connecting to other sites that support these goals

We invite you to join us in this adventure with your mind and your heart.
